When we moved in to our house, (nearly 10 years ago – yikes), there was a sizable shed at the bottom of the garden. It was wonky and rotten back then, but after nearly a decade of putting it off, we finally got round to pulling it down. I blame trials for the last few years worth of procrastination!
The good weather late in early March made for perfect conditions, so out came the axe, wrecking bars and saws. Three solid days went into cutting off the evil climbing bush/monster that was welded to the roof and walls. A further full day for two of us was spent trying to rip the thing down. Although the shed looked like it would fall down if you breathed on it hard enough, it actually turned out to be built like a Sherman tank! The guy that built it used three nails where one would do, studwork was from 3″x3″ PAR, every joint was half-housed, 7/8″ Cedar planks on the outside and 3/4″ blockboard inside – needless to say it put up a fight!
Finally we reached the point where we could start taking it to the tip, we got rid of one full load on the afternoon of Monday the 23rd March, just hours before … LOCKDOWN! Well, you can imagine how thrilled we are now that the tip is now closed and we now have a patio full of ex-shed! That bloody shed is putting up as much of a fight as it can!
Well, the day will come when we’re finally rid of the thing, hopefully soon. Then again, I’m hoping to be able to distract myself with some catching up with you guys! Lets get some plans bouncing around!
