Hi all, Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone at Howard’s Wood today. You may have noticed a new face struggling around on a bright orange bantam. Today was the first time I’ve ever ridden a trials bike and the first time I’ve done more than half a mile on a bike with left hand rear brake! Everyone made me feel welcome and gave me lots of great help and advice. I’m terrible with names but amongst others thanks to Pete, Mick and Steve for all of the help, encouragement and advice. I’ve got a lot of learning to do and need a LOT of practice. I’ve also got a list as king as my arm in things I need to do to the bike. Number one priority being gearing and then a front brake that actually works (seriously, it wouldn’t ever slow me down on the flat today) I look forward to seeing you all next week and hope to attempt more than I managed today. Harry

Thanks to all the riders that turned up today to support the trial at Welshpool and also thanks to the observers. I hope you all had a good day; I'm pleased the weather was on our side this time!

Hi all - me again, Thanks for the directions, it was cold! I'm now looking for someone with the expertise to get the forks I got off Dave Taylor (c15 type) to fit my bantam. The steerer seems too long so maybe a spacer needs to be turned and bearings need to be modified to fit. Looking at the engineering on some of your bikes I thought here may be a good place to ask! I'm desperately trying to get this thing ready for Pattingham as I don't have a trailer (yet!) and I actually live there! If anybody can help me I would massively appreciate it. Hoping to ride regularly once I have an eligible machine! Harry

Hi Harry, If you can put coordinates in your say nav, this is the exact location: 52.388359,-2.628388 If not, put them into Google maps and you'll see where it is. Bedlam is a highlight for a lot of people, so I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it! See you tomorrow - Luke

Can somebody confirm the postcode for the trial at Bedlam this Sunday? The one on the fixtures page is different to the one on the entry form. I'm only coming to observe (hope to do my first ever trial at Pattingham in March) so i've not been to the venue before! Harry

Hi guys, Looking for a favour: Would anyone have some carb mounting studs for a bantam? I think the thread is 5/8, not unf but possible unc or whitworth. Its the same as the engine end of the head studs - if that's any help? If so and you are going to Hunnington tomorrow, please coukd you giv3 me a shout? Cheers - Luke

I'm very sad to pass on the news that Al passed away on during Wednesday morning. He was an inspiration to me and a good friend, I'll miss him greatly.

It is very sad to report that Pauline Smith, the wife of long time member Colin Smith, died this week after a brave and long battle with cancer. Many riders will remember Pauline observing at trials and supporting Colin during his scramble and speedway exploits. The funeral is to be held at 2.30 pm, Thursday 6 December at Canley crematorium, 180, Cannon Hill Road, Coventry. CV4 7BX, and after at the Coventry Rugby Club, 4401,Butts Road, Coventry. CV1 3GE.

Rigid Class. Les Richardson tells me that Pete Reed is happy to mark-out Pattingham to suit the rigid class. Good news indeed! Generally,it is suggested that anyone wishing to bring a rigid to a BMCA event should contact the organiser and register their interest...so that the sections will be okay. And maybe organisers could make known, via the Guestbook, that their event will suit the class? Any other ideas to promote the class welcomed... Al

Annual Midlands Air Ambulance Trial, Easthope. A combined total of £269.70 was collected in the Paddock, from the sections and from the BMCA to help keep the helicopters "burning and turning". A big thank you to everyone concerned. The wet weather made it a typical old style trial...and great to see the rigids mixing it again. All the best, Al

Well said Wal, John was an excellent rider and a good guy from the 60's and 70's, very sorry to hear that news, there's not many from that era still riding.

After a long battle with illness my old pal and riding partner John Grazier died yesterday Tuesday 23rd October. He was part of the successful Redditch Motorcycle Club riding with Scott Ellis, Mick Bowers, John Garner, myself and many other well known names winning the Midland Centre Group Trials Championship for a few years. I will miss him and our old time chats. Rest in peace John.
